Kody Switch

Kody Switch is about my experiences as an actor and writer in Hollywood. It addresses the institutional racism I've encountered in the entertainment industry. It speaks to the sometimes toxic nature of the business. Kody switches the way he speaks to make others around him comfortable. That's something I'm familiar with growing up on the Southside of KC while attending predominantly White Catholic schools. I quickly learned I had to speak differently to the nuns at Our Lady of Lourdes than I did to the homeys on the block. Also, the film wrestles with how I communicate with my friends, police officers and the world around me. All of it is true, most of it actually happened. My hope is that this short film helps bring society closer to love.
